Frei Fly By

From 20090812-FreiFlyBy

The other day we were all having our lunch in the galley as usual, when suddenly one of my colleagues shouts out, "Holy shit a plane!". Well that about sums it up. For about 30 minutes our Chilean neighbors from the Frei Antarctic station buzzed the galley during our lunchtime. They radioed "hello" and eventually headed off. It was quite a shock. This was our first sight of other humans since the last boat left over a month ago. They picked an absolutely gorgeous day to do it.

Wish we had a plane...

Missed you at Dan and Victoria's wedding, but we heard that the Roys did their magic and you got to be a virtual guest.

Mom gossiped with John and Bjorn, who were there.

Dan is now a married man and you are therefore a brother-in-law.

  2. We all missed you in Colorado along with Amy, Josh and Grammy. It was a grand party though. Dan and Victoria did an incredible job with the planning - and what a location!
Karen did the live stream work- She had to stand in the back corner of the field holding the computer out because that was the only place she could maintain the connection. - Amy and Grammy were also watching live as were 6 unknown people!

  3. Wish I could've been there! I was watching from the lounge with a friend - thanks to Karen for putting that on. I've also pulled the video down just to get a better picture. It was kind of a trip when Karen was walking around with the laptop after the ceremony and everyone was waving "hello" to Antarctica. Got a kick out of that.

Anyway, glad to hear the wedding went well. Miss you guys!
